Following the leadership change appointing Pierre Tossut as the CEO of the Puratos Group, Puratos’s Board of Directors has appointed Paul Baisier as his successor effective immediately. Paul Baisier, previously Business Unit Director Bakery Improvers & Mixes will become a member of the Group Executive Committee (GEC) and is set to continue driving innovation within Puratos.

Innovation in the DNA

Since Puratos was founded in 1919, it has been driven by a passion for innovation, helping its customers around the world to produce and deliver nutritious, healthy and tasty food to their local communities. Puratos is recognized in the market for its ability to innovate and offer truly disruptive food solutions with the best nutritional value possible, never compromising on taste, texture, quality or safety. To keep this technological and competitive advantage, Puratos invests considerably in Innovation, spending more than 2,44% of its annual turnover in R&D. Today, more than 1100 R&D Researchers and Technical Advisors worldwide are working together with Puratos’s customers and partners on creating innovative food solutions for the health and well-being of people everywhere.

Driving the pillar of Puratos’s success further

Over his 21 years at Puratos, Paul Baisier successfully held different roles in Puratos’s Strategic Business Units and within R&D, such as R&D Manager APAC or R&D Manager at Puratos’s HQ in Groot-Bijgaarden. Paul has also focused on open innovation, collaborating closely with research partners and top universities, as well as notably setting up the Asia Development Center, our Asian hub for regional R&D. Paul is Bio Engineer from the University of Ghent. He also holds a Master Degree in General Management from the Open University Malaysia and completed an International Management Programme at the Vlerick Business School in Belgium and the Advanced Management Programme at Insead, France.

With his innovative mindset and a strong Business Development focus, Paul is well-set to continue to successfully drive Puratos R&D programs, building on the legacy of Pierre Tossut, who took a Group CEO role last month.

Commenting on this appointment, Pierre Tossut states:

“Paul is a highly inspirational business leader with a real passion for innovation. With his industry knowledge and diverse experience, there is no doubt that under his leadership Puratos’s R&D capabilities will be enhanced even further.”

Innovation has always been at the core of Puratos. The creation of the Taste Tomorrow program 10 years ago, the largest multi-country consumer survey in the bakery, patisserie and chocolate industry, combined with its dedicated global R&D team network, have enabled the company to build a unique capability to help professionals in the sectors turn technologies from food cultures around the world into new opportunities.
